| Devon Chase, 22, of 145 James Street, Albouystown, who is accused of stealing a $20,000 cellular phone, was yesterday granted $ 15,000 bail, after a court appearance.The phone is said to be the property of Tanzia Reid.He pleaded not guilty to the charge and has been ordered to make his next court appearance on October 22.And in the same court, Gregory Stewart 22, of 2977 North Ruimveldt, was yesterday remanded to prison on a charge of stealing a gold chain worth $80,000 from Kishen Manglani.He pleaded not guilty to the charge.When asked by the presiding magistrate if he had anything to say, Stewart said he was a single parent with two children.He added that he was totally unaware of the crime. However, the police prosecutor said that the “items in question” were found in his possession.He was then arrested and told of the present offence. Bail was denied by Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle, who ordered the accused to make his next appearance on October 6. |
