As the night went on, Adams said that two of the Presidential Guards came up to him saying “So is you who been talking up.”Adams, a Mathematics teacher at the local school, described the men as tall. After telling him to be quiet, the shorter of the guards purportedly slapped the teacher, “bursting” his lip in the process.Afterwards, Adams explained that the taller of the guards told him, “You better go or we gonna drop you to the ground.”Kaieteur News was made to understand that Adams immediately went to the local police station around 21:15 hours the same night to report the incident, but found that no one was at the station.When Adams spoke to this publication he was seeking medical attention for his lip, with the full intention of still going to the police.“If they (the Presidential Guard) can do this to me, can they do to anyone?” Adams was left wondering after the incident.The opposition party, A Partnership for National Unity (APNU), has since released a statement condemning the incident at Aishalton.
