That system has clogged up so much that in certain parts of the city it overflows.He added that the total length of pipes to be laid is 12 kilometers; Browne said that at present, 24 different pump stations assist in pumping the sewage into the ocean.He had noted that works on the project will be done at nights to avoid congestion. Safety will be paramount.GWI will be working in collaboration with the municipality, the police and other stakeholders to ensure that there is minimum disruption.Browne said that included in the entire sewer upgrade is the purchase of a $72 Million Hi-Vac Truck Mounted Aquatech Vacuum Cleaner which is a “Supersucker” vacuum bought to enhance the cleaning system.The truck was bought by the Government through the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). |
