| The driver of a city businessman yesterday narrowly escaped death during an attack by four gunmen at Charlotte Street, yesterday.This newspaper was told that the driver, 45-year-old Carl Husbands was shot in his right hand when four men opened fire on him just after 09:00 hours yesterday.The police, in a press release, stated that the police are investigating an incident that occurred at Charlotte Street, Georgetown, during which Husbands, of D’Urban Street, Georgetown , was shot and injured.Investigations revealed that Carl Husbands was in the process of parking a motor vehicle when a motor car with four men inside drove up alongside. One of the men exited the vehicle and discharged a round at Husbands which struck his elbow. The men escaped.The man’s employer, Richard Henriques,MLB Jerseys From China, said that the two had just left a city bank and had made a brief stop at a photocopying shop when the men pounced on Husbands.Henriques said just as he exited the vehicle and was heading for the photocopying shop, he heard what sounded like gunshots.“When I looked back I see he driving away and a white car behind him,” Henriques said.He added that after he caught up with Husbands at the Georgetown Public Hospital, the driver related what transpired.The man said that his driver told him that just as he exited the vehicle he noticed a white car behind him with four men.“He said that he saw the men exiting the car and coming towards him with guns, so he decided to drive away,” the businessman related.This newspaper was told that despite being shot in the right arm Husbands refused to stop his vehicle, but instead drove to the Brickdam Police station.The matter was reported and the injured Husbands was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was treated and admitted.Meanwhile the businessman said that he is not sure who really was the target in yesterday’s incident but said he felt as if the men traced them from a city bank.The man also speculated that the men may have had something to do with his son’s shooting to death during a robbery last year.Ricardo Henriques, 31, of D’Urban Street, Werk-en-Rust, was shot in the head at point blank range just outside a Guyana Lottery Company booth on Middle Street, near Juice Power and Water World, the snackette and purified water distributor.The shooting occurred around 7 pm. Henriques was later pronounced dead at the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was immediately taken for treatment.At the time of that incident, Richard Henriques was with his son and put up a fight with one of the gunmen. |
