| – Lone female charged with receiving stolen property The five gang members of the infamous “Aranka gang” yesterday made their first court appearance before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton, at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.Jermaine Jerrick, Stephan Lewis, Kendall Lewis and Elton Grant who were heavily shacked and handcuffed were jointly slapped with five counts of robbery under arms.The lone female, Marissa Ridley,Wholesale Authentic Jerseys, 26, of Alexander Village, was slapped with two counts of receiving stolen property.The charges against Ridley read that on August 21, at Bartica, she received one DVD player, the property of Antonio De Souza.Another charge read that she received a laptop computer valued $200,000 from Jermaine Jerrick which was also the property of Antonio De Souza. Ridley pleaded guilty to the first charge,Wholesale Jerseys, whilst the other was indictable and she was not required to plead.Her lawyer in a bail application told the court that Ridley was a businesswoman who is the mother of two minors.The lawyer explained that Ridley would travel to the interior to sell clothing and other items. He argued that his client was not a flight risk, and she was never charged prior to this.However Police Prosecutor Shellon Daniels objected to bail being granted.According to the prosecutor, more charges are expected to be laid against Ridley who is allegedly part of the gang.The prosecutor said that another reason for her bail refusal application was that the woman’s address differed from the one the court documented.The prosecutor along with the lawyer got into a debate about the woman’s address. After quick clarification the magistrate insisted that she was granting bail since all the requirements were fulfilled. The magistrate ordered Ridley to return to court on September 29.It was then time for the charges to be read for the male accused.The first charge read that the men on August 20, at Aranka, while armed with guns, robbed Treyinha Leite Daforte, of a laptop computer, three cameras, six ounces of raw gold, $140,China NFL Jerseys,000 cash, two cell phones,Wholesale NFL Jerseys China, two gold chains and two maglight torchlights, totaling $2.463M.A second charge read that on August 20, they robbed Joacy De Souza of articles valued $1.9 M.It was further alleged that on the same day, while armed with guns, they robbed Razami Nacimento Costa,Cheap NFL jerseys China, of a gold chain and a pair of gold earrings, totaling $180,000.The penultimate charge alleges that the men on August 20, at Aranka Top Side,Wholesale Jerseys Authentic, robbed Eddie Milston Da Silva of articles valued at $291,000.And lastly it was alleged that at Aranka Landing on August 20, they robbed Beserra De Souza of articles worth $136,000. The men were not required to plead to any of the charges since they were indictable.None of the men was represented by counsel yesterday when they appeared before Magistrate Octive-Hamilton.Police Prosecutor Shellon Daniels made the application for the men to be remanded to prison. Kaieteur News understands that Jerrick is a convicted felon and had spent a number of years behind bars. She also requested that the matters be transferred to the Bartica Magistrate’s Court, for September 29.That application was subsequently granted by the magistrate.According to reports, the five accused were nabbed when a police riverain patrol intercepted them while they were apparently making their way out of the interior. |
