Hot fun in the summertime at Redlands swim club

The pool, tucked away off Ford Street and Fifth Avenue, has been called the best kept secret in Redlands. Treasurer Rick Foster and his family have been members for more than 30 years. Each of his children has been a lifeguard at the facility. "It's been a great situation for us," Foster said, pointing out that the family is lucky enough to live next door to the pool. "You can have as much fun as you can driving hours and hours to the beach. It's a very family oriented place for fun and fellowship." The facility is an old concrete reservoir and is larger than most pools. There are three swim lanes, a floating dock, a slide, a water Ghd Online Sale basketball hoop and a shallow section for beginning swimmers. "People really do love it," said club member and volunteer Lucretia Irving. "We usually get a huge crowd on the Fourth of July," she said. During the money hunt organizers toss coins into the pool and guests dive for them. Throughout the summer there will be late night swims and dinner celebrations, including a summer solstice event. During the off season, the facility saw minor changes, which included putting in a second flight of stairs by the volleyball court, filling in a smaller pool and removing a tree. The club is still looking to replace the slide, but has run into some difficulties finding a pool supplier that can accommodate the antiquated facility.
