Lagoon Seafood Restaurant, run by the particular Harrison family, was named over-all winner in the I Love Food Awards on Friday.
The actual win is significant for the city because the annual vote made by Foxtel's LifeStyle Food Station is recognised as Australia's biggest people's choice restaurant Tiffany & Co Australia honours.
Proprietor Andrew Harrison was particularly happy about what the national acceptance meant for Wollongong and the 100 local residents the restaurant employed.

Mr Harrison said places to eat could not nominate themselves.

Foxtel's Way of living Food Channel described the seaside eatery in Stuart Park as featuring a world class a new york carte menu and the most up to date seafood, a wine for each and every palate and occasion, stylish dining, unsurpassed service in addition to a waterfront view that was purely breathtaking.
The restaurant in its provide format opened in 04 but the original Lagoon Seafood Eatery opened in 1986.
''Our staff are really friendly people just want to give back,'' Mrs Nicolaou said.
