More than 400 house lots at Yarrowkabra, Soesdyke/Linden Highway are being considered to relocate families “squatting” in Timehri North on East Bank Demerara. This is reflected by the absence of any consultations with adjacent and impacted communities to fashion the Social Management Plan to respond to concerns of those communities.”“The document contravenes the spirit of the Environmental Protection Act 1996. The Government of Guyana as the project proponent should not be responsible for undertaking the ESMP since the intent is that the environmental analyses be conducted by an independent authority devoid of any interest in the future of the project.”“The ESMP has no discussion related to the demographics of the impacted communities and their livelihood activities. Minimum relocation standards mandate that the livelihood activities,Cheap Jerseys, if altered, shall maintain the current quality of life.
