Four men appeared yesterday before Magistrate Rhondel Weaver at the Mibicuri Magistrate’s Court charged with the murder of Jewanlall Deonarine, 49,Wholesale Stitched Jerseys, called ‘Bingle’, of Lesbeholden, South Black Bush Polder on October 05, 2013.The four accused – Kumar Mangru, 17, and Nazim Azimulla, 42, of Johanna, South Black Bush Polder; Rajesh Singh, 38, of Lesbeholden, North Black Bush Polder and Carlton Chaitram, 37, of Mibicuri, South Black Bush Polder – were not required to plea to the indictable charge.Deonarine, a labourer had left his residence around 20:15hrs on the day in question in a car, PFF 8720, with a group of men to buy cigarettes from a neighbouring shop. At the time his family was hosting a farewell party for one of his sons-in-law. At the shop an altercation ensued between Deonarine’s group, inclusive of his two sons-in-law and another group of about eight men.The group that attacked Deonarine and his family was allegedly armed with knives and cutlasses.Deonarine’s body was found on the Lesbeholden Public Road. He was picked up and rushed to the Port Mourant Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.A post mortem examination performed on the body showed that he died from a fractured skull in two places.The men will return to court on November 5 for continuation.
