A Linden father has been remanded by Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson, at the Georgetown Magistrates Court for unlawfully mistreating his three-year-old son, causing unnecessary suffering, on June 26, last.Roy Pires, 39, of 117 Central Amelia’s Ward, Linden, was also charged with threatening and assaulting, Lisa Paul, the child’s mother. He pleaded not guilty.He was represented by attorney at law Adrian Thompson.When asked if he had anything to say the father of two declined to say anything. The matter was called up to the bench and after a lengthy discussion the accused was remanded to prison.He is expected to make another court appearance on July 7; the matter was also transferred to the Christiansburg Magistrates Court.And 53-year-old Robert Wilburg, La Penitence resident was remanded on the charge of indecent assault.He is accused of indecently assaulting a 16-year-old female between January 1, 2004 and December 31, 2008. He was not required to plead to the indictable offence.Wilburg was remanded to prison and is expected to make another court appearance on July 2.Colin Gooding, 46, of 6 Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara,Bill Lee Jersey, was yesterday placed on $120,000 bail for unlawfully damaging one car door. It was alleged that the accused on June 26, further stole $200,000 cash, property of Mohabir Hitram.He pleaded not guilty to both charges. He was represented by attorney at law Patrice Henry, who said that his client is gainfully employed as a mechanic and a father of three.He said that Gooding has had previous matters before the court but has always returned for trial.The lawyer asked that bail be granted in a reasonable sum. There was no objection to bail by Police Prosecutor Munilall Seetaram.Bail was granted and the accused is expected to make another court appearance on July 8.
