A project to restore City Hall is stalled as the City Engineers’ Department has been unableCity Hallto present Councillors with a comprehensive work plan outlining priority works and phases in which they should be executed.This is according to Junior Garrett, Chairman of the Finance Committee, who explained that a request for a work plan was made after the Department expended $5M on the purchase and installation of windows on that building which is considered one of the country’s heritage sites.The Councillors were displeased that the Department started the restoration project with the installation of windows as it would have been more practical to restore the roof first, Garrett said.The restoration project is being funded by Government’s $20M subvention given to the Council last year. In July 2011, Mayor Hamilton Green had disclosed that the Department was preparing the programme for the execution of works and priority would have been given to windows and roof of the historic edifice.Green had stated that release of the other $15M was dependent on works completed. However, it was only late last year the department executed physical works.City Hall has been described as one of the finest examples of Gothic Architecture in the Caribbean. It was built between 1887 and 1889 and is made of wood, cast iron columns,Wholesale Jerseys, steep pitched roofing, pinnacles and ornamentals.
