Coast Colleges could pay former chancellor more than
Coast Colleges' recent breakup with its chancellor may cost the district more than $200,000 under the terms of an agreement approved by the Board of Trustees.
The resignation agreement, obtained by the Register on Thursday, says Andrew Jones will continue receiving his $21,000 monthly salary and district paid health benefits until he finds other employment for up to 10 months.
Jones abruptly announced his resignation with "mixed emotions" in Women Polo T Shirts an email to district employees Aug. 14. He provided no explanation for the decision, though the trustees had previously aired frustrations about their relationship with him.
Under the resignation agreement, both Jones and the trustees agreed to set aside any lingering grievances during the public drama of his departure. Comments impugning either side's reputation can spur a $25,000 fine.
The district also agreed to provide Jones "with a positive letter of reference signed by the district's board president" and include "Dr. Jones expressing his positive feelings toward the district, and the board expressing its appreciation for Dr. Jones' service" in the district's public resignation announcement.
The announcement included a statement from Jones saying, "I am grateful to the Nike Air Maxes Online Board of Trustees whose support has been essential to our many successes," and a statement from board President Mary Hornbuckle saying, "We are grateful for his service and wish him well in his future endeavors."
The agreement prohibited Jones or the trustees from discussing its terms, but it allowed the document to be publicly released under the California Public Records Act. The Register requested a copy from the district Wednesday night and received it Thursday morning.
Jones' contract had provided him the top Oakley Jawbone Fake administrative position through June 30, 2017. Since 2011, he has overseen the district's three community colleges: Orange Coast in Costa Mesa, Coastline in Fountain Valley and Golden West in Huntington Beach.
