A teenaged vendor, who was apprehended at his West Ruimveldt home for allegedly having 26 rounds of live ammunition and a pistol in his bedroom, made his first court appearance yesterday to be arraigned at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, just two days after the discovery.Eighteen-year-old Alex Mendonca,Cheap NFL Jerseys China, a resident of Vlissengen Road,Cheap Jerseys, West Ruimveldt, Georgetown pleaded not guilty to offences of Illegal Possession of Firearm and Ammunition, but the court,Scarpe Nike Scontate Al 70, presided over by the Chief Magistrate,Killian Tillie Jersey, Priya Sewnarine-Beharry ordered him held. The particulars of the charges laid against Mendonca detailed that on January 21,Authentic Jerseys Wholesale, at West Ruimveldt, he had in his possession 26 rounds of .32 ammunitions and a .32 Taurus semiautomatic pistol while not being the owner of a firearm licence. The prosecution team led by Inspector Michael Grant, who briefed the court, jerseys nfl wholesale, stated that on the day in question, police ranks acting on information received went to Mendonca’s home.He explained that while the ranks were at the door, they rapped, but it was open, so they entered the house where they met Mendonca’s mother and asked for him.  She reportedly informed the ranks that her son was in his bedroom sleeping.Inspector Grant told the court that the ranks then proceeded to his bedroom and rapped, but the room was also open so they entered and met the defendant inside. They at that point informed Mendonca of the reason they were in his bedroom and proceeded to conduct a search of his dwelling space. The Prosecution explained that it was under a pile of clothes that the gun and ammunition were found. They reportedly asked the teen whether he was the holder of the firearm licence and he responded in the negative.Mendonca was subsequently arrested and charged with the present offence.Nevertheless, representing the accused was Defence Attorney George Thomas who, in submitting his application for his client to be granted reasonable bail, stated that his client is not a flight risk.Alex MendoncaHe said that Mendonca is a vendor who lives with his mother and has had no brushes with the law.Thomas asked the court to note that neither his client nor his mother was informed of the search, and he further stated that Mendonca’s mother was in fact awoken by the police who said that the door “was open, but not opened.”He lamented that it could have possibly been a set-up. According to him, the police told his client that he would be jailed for 10 years if he did not cooperate with them. The lawyer furthered his bail application stating that due to the circumstances he was asking that the court consider the nature of what transpired, and that his client was forced to give a statement. However, his application was met with objections from the Prosecution who argued that no special reasons for bail to be issued were raised by the Defence Attorney.Inspector Grant said that the serious nature and prevalence of the offence, as well as the fact that both a gun and ammunition were found, were sufficient grounds for Mendonca to be held in remand. The Chief Magistrate upheld the objections of the Prosecution and Mendonca was refused a court bond and remanded to prison until January 27. The matter was transferred and is set to be called before Magistrate Judy Latchman at the said court.
