| A quick-thinking individual saved the life of 37-year-old Dave Kumar, known as ‘Fix Man’, of Patrick Dam, Angoy’s Avenue. The man was on Monday rushed to the New Amsterdam Hospital in an unconscious state after he was shocked on a utility pole while trying to reconnect illegal connections that were disconnected by Guyana Power & Light.Reports are that Kumar, who was on a ladder at the time,Team Italy World Baseball Classic Jerseys, came into contact with an electrical wire and began shaking uncontrollably. Realizing that the man was in distress, a resident of the house kicked aside the ladder and Kumar fell to the ground, thus becoming detached from the wire.He was picked up and rushed to the New Amsterdam Hospital where the resident whose house he was working on, left him and fled.Reports reaching Kaieteur News stated that the electricity company had earlier in the day disconnected over 190 illegal connections in the area.Around 18:30 hrs, GPL was alerted that someone was injured while trying to perform a reconnection. A report was made and in company of the police, personnel from the company proceeded to the hospital where they observed Kumar lying on a trolley in a semi-conscious state.According to the man’s wife, Nafeeza Kumar, her husband had left home around 18:20 hrs to fetch water. A few minutes later, she got the news that he had fallen from a GPL pole and had been rushed to the hospital.Investigations are continuing and charges are likely soon. |
