| Over the years,John Gibson, the Guyana Cultural Association of New York Inc, a non-profit organisation dedicated to the preservation of Guyanese folk festival, has returned to Guyana.At a press conference yesterday at the Carifesta Sports Complex on Carifesta Avenue,Wholesale China Jerseys, the Local Organising Committee said that the organisation took this decision last year to return to its roots in Guyana and sponsor the folk games in Guyana for this year.Hosting the press conference were Margaret Lawrence, Terry Holder, Ron Robinson, Rohan Sattaur who is in charge of advertising, and Basil Bradshaw, who is responsible for the games at the folk festival.This year the committee would be remembering the works of the late Guyanese folklorist Wordsworth Mc Andrew.The symposium and family fun day would help Guyanese to recognise and celebrate McAndrew’s contributions to Guyana’s cultural life.Over the past years, the organisers have posted various themes keeping with arts, craft and literature.Hence the Local Planning Committee has promised a fun-filled and highly cultural event, which would be a prelude to CARIFESTA.The festival is scheduled for August 17 at Carifesta Sports Complex on Carifesta Avenue.
