A dispute over area at Burntwood Elementary School has come for the forefront, with the School District of Mystery Lake revealing to the Division Scolaire Franco Manitobaine (DSFM) that they must leave the space at Burntwood School at the conclusion of the 2012 2013 classes year.

"The reverend directed DSFM and MLSD to agree on a short term solution which might see the DSFM students continue to be kept at Burntwood Elementary School until DSFM features a permanent location.
"At the same time, the minister directed her officials to work with the DSFM on looking for a new location for its college in Thompson, outside of Burntwood Elementary. The girl also committed to continue using the services of MLSD to strengthen public education in Thompson."

"It's not fair for us to tell these kids they have to find another school to go to when they live two minutes outside," said SDML trustee Janet Brady.
Brady, whilst careful not to sound callous, says that the issue of where DSFM students will go is not at the disposal of the SDML.
"They have their own board, and it's really up to them to figure out what they'll do with those students,Inch said Brady.
DSFM have 22 institutions throughout Manitoba, with their current position at Burntwood School being the Twenty second. They began renting the place in 2010 when Burntwood had readily available empty space, but as it stands, the board wants the space back for their own students.
With the new property development going up across the route from Burntwood Elementary School, it's projected that La Voie Du Nord could see an intake of up to 20 students, into the close to 50 that Burntwood often see.
There is another conference call to become scheduled between SDML and the Team if Education in Winnipeg to sneak the impasse.
"Two weeks earlier we had put forth the offers to the ministry," said Bartlett. "One appeared to be that Burntwood couldn't provide anymore space to the DSFM, and the other has been that they needed to vacate by the end of the school year in 2013."
Division Scolaire Franco Manitobaine Superintendent Denis Ferre and Reverend of Education Nancy Allan couldn't be gotten to for comment by the Thompson Homeowner as of press time Summer 19.
